About Our Schools
- Operates a therapeutic day school for individuals ages 5 – 22, and two adult employment programs (supported and independent) for adults 18+, along with family support including respite, social groups, and parent education.
- Conducts research onsite for publication and dissemination to inform the broader field.
- Recruiting and retaining leaders in the special education instruction and clinical work – with both employees and practice advisory board members.

- Founded in 2007 to provide best practice interventions and support to individuals without limit to “acceptable” standards often adopted by the “normative” guidelines that are believed to limit the true potential of our friends and family members living with autism.

Speech and Language Therapy Externship Program at a Glance
A speech and language clinical placement with Turning Pointe Autism Foundation would provide exposure to the following:
- Training in the evaluation, use and programming of a variety of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) systems (no-tech, low-tech, high-tech) for non-speaking and limited speaking students.
- Training in the use of Partner Augmented Input (PAI) to support language and grammar acquisition in students on the autism spectrum.
- Evaluation and treatment of expressive, receptive and pragmatic communication disorders.
- Training in the use of a variety of service delivery models (push in, pull out, whole group, small group, multidisciplinary groups, and indirect consultative services).
- Training in the use of direct and play-based treatment modalities.
Occupational Therapy Externship Program at a Glance
- Exposure and training in the occupational therapy evaluation process utilizing a variety of occupation-based functional assessments, sensory assessments, visual-motor assessments, and skilled clinical observations.
- Experience in developing occupational profiles in order to foster a client-focused approach in the evaluation, intervention planning, intervention implementation, and service delivery planning.
- Address a variety of skills in the areas of Activities of Daily Living skills, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living skills, Educational Performance skills, Fine Motor skills, and Vocational skills as it relates to participation in school related activities.
- Experience in presenting and participating in the IEP process and collaborative meetings.
- Training and participation in developing student sensory programming, adaptive supports, and environmental modifications for the classroom environment.
- Exposure to a variety of service delivery formats including: individual push in therapy sessions, group sessions, and indirect consultative services.
- Training and implementation in daily documentation methods, data collection development, progress monitoring, and related report writing necessary for school-based occupational therapy services.
- Opportunity to create and develop school-wide occupational therapy initiatives.
