Notice of intent to accept applications for an apprenticeship in the electrical industry. Applications will be taken during the months of July, August & September 2020 on Wednesdays only from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm at IBEW Local Union 461:

Apprenticeship Basic Requirements:

1. You must be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of application and must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of selection and indenture.

2. All applications must be completed in the Local Union Office and must not be taken out of the building.

3. You must be a High School graduate or have a G.E.D. (copy of G.E.D. certificate required) or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher. Proof of one year of high school Algebra I with a C or better grade or post-high school Algebra I equivalent. A high school transcript is required and must be in a sealed envelope from the school. Transcripts from post-high school education and training may be submitted in a sealed envelope from the school.

4. You must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

5. Must be a resident of Local 461 ‘s jurisdiction which includes the southern half of Kane County, all of Kendall County, plus Sandwich (including township) in DeKalb County, at the time of application.

6. Agree to sign a statement that he/she is physically able to perform electrical construction work. Accepted applicants must provide a physical exam before starting the program.

7. Accepted applicants will be required to appear, at a time and place specified by the NECA/IBEW Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee, for a drug/alcohol test.

8.Must provide a birth certificate or any other acceptable form of documentation that proves minimum age requirements.

Bianca has worked in the therapeutic day school and adult services at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation. She has a Masters in Behavior Analysis and has worked with a variety of ages and abilities to decrease maladaptive behavior and increase skill acquisition. Bianca has helped create programming for students at Turning Pointe based on their individual needs and current repertoire of skills. Her past research interests include evaluation of staff to student ratios in the therapeutic day school and multidisciplinary comparison of training fields for acquisition of noun targets for AAC users and reliability of utilizing Realize language to make clinical decisions.

Megan

Megan C.
Adult Program Specialist, M.S., CCC-SLP

Megan has worked with students in the therapeutic day school and adult services at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation to implement evidence-based practices in teaching and generalizing social communication skills and augmentative and alternative communication supports in the workplace, home, and community. Past research includes an evidence-based review of norm-referenced language tests for identification of social (pragmatic) communication disorder, a multidisciplinary comparison of training fields in acquisition of noun targets for AAC users, and reliability of utilizing realize language to make clinical decisions. Megan hopes to combine her clinical and research experience to create evidence-based programming and link independent living, social communication, and employability skills for young adults with autism spectrum disorder.

Tricia S.
Special education teacher (Illinois State University), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Aurora University)

Tricia has worked at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation in the therapeutic day school classrooms decreasing maladaptive behavior and increasing independence and skill acquisition. She has also worked with Career College students on independent living, social communication, and employability skills that they can utilize for a job they choose based on personal interests and current skill repertoire. Tricia hopes to use both of her degrees in special education and behavior analysis in order to teach and prepare Career College students to be successful under all of the demands in a work place; daily preparation to be successful, job duties, social competency, and communication with others.

Intense Behavior Interventionist for Adult Services and the Therapeutic Day School

Michelle has worked in the therapeutic day school and adult services at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation. She has worked in classrooms with students of varying ages and abilities focusing on increasing independence and skill acquisition. Michelle hopes to use her experience and education in psychological studies and behavior analysis to better prepare students on the autism spectrum for competitive employment and successful integration into the work place.

Renzo, a former student of Career College started Uniquely Pawfect because of his love of animals, especially dogs. When Renzo graduated in May of 2018, TP partnered with him to help him grow the business that employs him. Renzo recently began working at Walgreens downtown Chicago too! Congratulations, Renzo!
