Turning Pointe Autism Foundation launches a new Women’s Board

By Larissa Salvato
Turning Pointe Autism Foundation is celebrating its 15th anniversary, and the nonprofit organization is starting a new chapter — a Women’s Board.
Officially launched in March in honor of Women’s History Month, the Turning Pointe Autism Foundation Women’s Board is created and led by Diana Piedra and Turning Pointe board member Heather Ryan.
In addition, Turning Pointe founder Kim Wolf and founding family member Tammy Wolf are participating in the new board.
“I wanted to honor my cousin who lives with autism by joining an exemplary organization and giving back,” Piedra said. “Turning Pointe is exactly that – a turning point for hundreds of local families. Their team guides families, students, and fellow clinicians every day.”
Established in 2007, Turning Pointe is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating best practice learning environments for individuals on the spectrum. Today, Turning Pointe provides best-in-class educational supports to children and young adults with autism through its day school and adult services programs.
The purpose of the Women’s Board is to gather women passionate about making a difference in the lives of families impacted by autism.
The board will raise awareness and funds through a variety of initiatives to ensure Turning Pointe can continue to meet the growing needs of the community.
“We’re excited to offer women in our community another way to connect with each other and support a cause that is close to their hearts,” said Carrie Provenzale, executive director at Turning Pointe.
One of the Women’s Board’s first initiatives is hosting designer Freida Rothman as a guest speaker at Butterfield Country Club following the luncheon at the annual Turning Pointe Autism Foundation Golf Outing on Monday, July 10.
Inspired by the legacy of four grandparents — all Holocaust survivors — Freida’s designs honor strength and resiliency through contemporary pieces that reflect her native Brooklyn, New York. She and her jewelry will tell a compelling story of beauty and grit. All women are invited to save the date.
